Website maintenance in the Canary Islands, from someone who picks up the phone
- Security
- Backups
- Changes
Updates, backups, the domain and certificate kept current, and the small changes that come up every month. From €25 a month excl. IGIC, from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, for businesses on every island. And if I didn't build your website, I look at it first and tell you what it actually needs.
What's included
What maintenance has to do to be worth paying for. If what you're offered doesn't say what it includes, it isn't maintenance: it's a subscription.
- 01
Security and updates
from €25/monthWhatever needs updating gets updated, then checked, so an update doesn't take your site down on a Friday afternoon.
- 02
Backups
Automatic, and tested to make sure they can be restored. A backup nobody has tried restoring isn't a backup.
- 03
Domain and certificate kept current
So they don't expire. A website that one day shows up as “not secure” loses customers that same day.
- 04
Monitoring
If the site goes down, I find out before your customers do.
- 05
Small changes
Opening hours, a price, a photo. Send it to me on WhatsApp and it's done.
An unmaintained website doesn't break the day you stop looking at it. It breaks the day you need it most.
What people usually ask me about maintenance
The questions that come up before signing up for it, or before cancelling it.
- What does it cost?
From €25 a month excl. IGIC for websites I've built. I can charge that because a static website, with no database or plugins, needs very little maintenance.
For a website someone else built, I look at it first and then tell you the price: a WordPress site with fifteen plugins isn't the same job.
- Do I need it?
It depends on how your website is built. If it's static, you change the content yourself, and the domain and hosting are in your name on auto-renew, you can go without maintenance and call someone only when you need to.
If it's WordPress with a lot of plugins, yes. An unmaintained WordPress site is a security problem with a date on it.
- Do you maintain websites you didn't build?
Yes, after reviewing it. I tell you what state it's in, what it costs to maintain and whether it's worth migrating. Sometimes the answer is that what you have works and just needs looking after.
- Which changes are included?
The small ones: copy, opening hours, prices, photos. A new section or a whole new page is a separate job, with its own fixed quote before anything starts.
- I already pay for maintenance. How do I know if it's reasonable?
Ask in writing what's been done in the last three months. If the answer is vague, you know what you're paying for. If you like, send it to me and I'll tell you what I see.
Who's keeping an eye on your website?
Tell me what website you have and I'll tell you what it needs. If it doesn't need anything, I'll tell you that too.
